cannot send mail from outbox

I get the following error message when Windows Mail tries to send mail:

Subject 'Re: running', Account: 'Yahoo Servers', Server:
'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

Anyone have a solution?

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

Is that a free Yahoo account, or are you paying for their Mail Plus service?
If the latter, your port settings are not correct. See

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

Thanks, Gary for the tip. Yes, I have Yahoo! Mail Plus. I am trying to use
Windows Mail in Vista. The instructions you referred me to was for Outlook,
however I was able to find all of the items to enter, but I still can't send
mail from Windows Mail. I don't have a problem with receiving, just sending.

I get a Window Security window asking me to login to Yahoo with my username
and password, however, I never succeed. I just keep getting this login
screen over and over.

Any more ideas?

Please post the error message you are getting now.
That will allow me to verify that you have changed to the correct settings.

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

In the Windows Mail window, under the task bar, I get a message showing that
an attempt to send one message was tried but failed. There is no message
under the error tab.

What happens is that a window to verify my username and password for Yahoo
keeps popping up, even though I continue to keep putting in my Yahoo username
and password. I have verified that I am using the correct username and
password.

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

Based on my experience, this issue is most likely if the SSL feature is
enabled and

your ISP doesn't support the feature. We can perform the following steps to
narrow

down this issue

Step 1: Don't use secure connection

1. Click Tools -> E-mail Accounts

2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and Click Next

3. Double Click your problematic e-mail account

4. Click More Settings

5. On Advanced tab, Uncheck This server requires and encrypted connection
(SSL)

under Outgoing server (SMTP)

6. Click OK and Next and Finish

-------------------------------------

Step 2: Also, the issue could be related to the corrupted Outlook
Profile.you could create a new profile to narrow down the problem.

If you need more information, please follow the article below:

Q287072 OL2002: How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook

<http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q287/0/72.asp>

Q287070 OL2002: How to Back Up, Restore, or Move Outlook Data

<http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q287/0/70.asp>

-------------------------------------

Step 3: If issue is still there. Try to configure your account in Outlook
Express (OE) and test the issue

Note: Since Outlook Express is a basic program, we can try these steps to
test if

the issue relate to Outlook program.

For more information on how to configure your account in Outlook Express,
please

refer to the article below:

171163 OLEXP: How to Configure Outlook Express for Internet Mail

<http://support.microsoft.com/?id=171163>

Please tell me the results.

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.

You got an error message once before (see at the bottom of this thread),
so I was hoping you would get a new error message so I can verify your
changed settings, but apparently the antivirus interference is overriding
everything else.

Re: cannot send mail from outbox

I have PC-ciillin 2007, so I just went and turned off the mail monitoring,
opened and closed my browser, reopened Windows Mail and still have the same
issues--no error message but continued reprompting to verify my Yahoo
username and password.

I appreciate your sticking with, Gary. Any other suggestions?
