| Guest | Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? Hi - How do you set this up, so that a "flag" appears next to the e-mail shortcut when mail arrives? I have set up a the mail alert sound but can't figure out how to do flag bit - I am sure this feature was part of Ms Express when I was using Windows XP Thanks, Peter |

| Guest | Re: Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? You will have to set up a message rule: Tools, Message Rules, Mail. One of the selectable actions is "Flag it". -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PETER RANDOLPH" <randolph59@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OFOsol15IHA.4988@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi - How do you set this up, so that a "flag" appears next to the e-mail > shortcut when mail arrives? | Guest | Re: Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? Sorry, I misunderstood your original question to refer to the flag column in the message list. Windows Mail puts a 'new e-mail' icon in the system tray (lower right corner). Is that what you are referring to? I don't know about any other flag. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PETER" <randolph59@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1D4AA21C-5D5E-4294-871E-044B3879380C@xxxxxx Quote: > ok - but how do you get the flag on the email shortcut on the status bar? > > Thanks > > Peter > "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:OpOtcd25IHA.1592@xxxxxx Quote: >> You will have to set up a message rule: >> Tools, Message Rules, Mail. >> One of the selectable actions is "Flag it". >> >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) >> >> >> "PETER RANDOLPH" <randolph59@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:OFOsol15IHA.4988@xxxxxx Quote: >>> Hi - How do you set this up, so that a "flag" appears next to the e-mail >>> shortcut when mail arrives? | Guest | Re: Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? That is the Quick Launch bar. As far as I know, there is no way to have that icon alert for new incoming mail. I don't use the Windows Sidebar. I know all kinds of 'gadgets' have been developed for it, but I'm not familiar with those. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PETER" <randolph59@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ey%23DqAK6IHA.1420@xxxxxx Quote: > yes - although my e-mail shortcut appears on the left next to the windows > star button along the taskbar. if the flag can not be shown here to alert > new incoming mail can it be set up using the windows sidebar? > > Thanks > > Peter > > "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:ONh0CrF6IHA.1196@xxxxxx > Sorry, I misunderstood your original question to refer to the flag > column in the message list. > > Windows Mail puts a 'new e-mail' icon in the system tray (lower right > corner). | Guest | Re: Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? Ok - so is there a simple way of setting an alert somewhere on the desktop for a user of ms mail when there is an incoming mail other than a "sound" which I have already set up? (ps. I am very hard of hearing!) Peter "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OxZyNWK6IHA.2260@xxxxxx That is the Quick Launch bar. | Guest | Re: Ms Mail Notification/Alert for Ms Windows Vista Home Premium?? No, not that I know of. You probably know that you can change that new mail notification sound with some other sound file that might be more attention getting. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PETER" <randolph59@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:EF491D4D-5121-4368-BF1A-748C1DCE0BC6@xxxxxx Quote: > Ok - so is there a simple way of setting an alert somewhere on the desktop > for a user of ms mail when there is an incoming mail other than a "sound" > which I have already set up?
