Saying you have Gmail doesn't pin it down.
Gmail offers three different types of mail service: webmail, POP, and IMAP.
Which one do you have?
If you access your Gmail account with a web browser, you are using webmail.
Gmail claims they have a fix that makes their webmail the default email service,
but I'm not so sure it works on Vista machines. Give it a try:
