| Guest | I can't send a message from an e-mail link When I try to send a message from an e-mail link I get an error message. Even if I open Windows Mail and type in the e-mail address, I get the same error message. I have checked and both Windows Explorer & Windows mail are set as the default. Can you help? Thanks. |

| Guest | Re: I can't send a message from an e-mail link I too am getting an error when I click on a "mailto" link. The error box says "mailto-xxxxxx@xxxxxx" "Application Not Found". Is there a way to configure Windows Mail so this can be done? Thank you in advance for any help. | Guest | Re: I can't send a message from an e-mail link Gary, Here is what I get. And now I see I am having problem sending all my e-mail. What did I do? The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was '(refillrxsupport@xxxxxx)'. Subject 'Can't get logged in to site', Account: 'mail.mtc.net', Server: 'smtp.mtc.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 5.0.0 <(refillrxsupport@xxxxxx)>... User address required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. > > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) > > > "Sandee" <Sandee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3B8AE060-87A4-41CF-9896-D87AB8D2ACB8@xxxxxx Quote: > > When I try to send a message from an e-mail link I get an error message. > > Even if I open Windows Mail and type in the e-mail address, I get the same > > error message. | Guest | Re: I can't send a message from an e-mail link Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows Mail". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "grma-d51" <grma-d51@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:663ACEF2-9B9F-4EC7-A0D4-5C640CEB9756@xxxxxx Quote: >I too am getting an error when I click on a "mailto" link. | Guest | Re: I can't send a message from an e-mail link Closely examine that recipient's email address for extraneous characters. Instead of "<(refillrxsupport@xxxxxx)>..." make sure Windows Mail sees only a clean refillrxsupport@xxxxxx . -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Sandee" <Sandee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:85CDB79B-605F-4724-B05E-CFF1DC403D94@xxxxxx Quote: > Gary, Here is what I get.
