Can receive email only once per launch of Windows Mail

Hi,

My problem with the Windows Mail is that I can only receive email once per
launch of the program. If I need to check email again, I have to re-launch
the program. I did not see any body complain this. Looks like the problem is
very unique to me?

If I want to check email one more time without re-launching, what I get is
the message says: "Some errors occurred while processing the requested
tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more detail". But under
the "Errors" tab, there is nothing to show. Under the "Tasks" tab, looks
like it did nothing for me, and says: "0 of 6 tasks have completed
successfully".

I can send emails aright, whenever I would like to.

Can anybody help?

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your response. I am using the Norton Internet Security system.
I tried to turn of the email scanning but that did not solve the problem. Do
you have any other suggestion?

Norton antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Symptoms often don't start until after several months.
The only way you can prove or disprove that Norton is the culprit is to
uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more
resistant to the adverse effects of aggressive antivirus products:

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:

Hi Jason

I found this thread after trying to search for a solution to this problem.
It appears to unresolved.
I solved this by comparing my windows mail account properties to an account on another Vista Laptop

Try this:-
In Windows Mail look in Tools / Accounts and drop down the "Directory Service" tag.
Is anything duplicated in there?

I found Active Directory (NULL) and Verisign Internet Directory Service (directory.verisign.com) duplicated.

I removed one of each of the duplicates and restarted PC.

Send/Received as normal after that.

I think prob occured after importing contacts and email settings.
I ticked a box I shouldn't have and it duplicated some files and contacts.

How do you delete the duplicates - I have the same as you do but I can't delete them?

Hi
In tools / accounts where you are looking at the "directory service" down the right hand side you have "add" "remove" etc

With the duplicated service highlighted click remove.

This should delete it.

Note: Just incase it doesn't allow it:- I have User Account Control (UAC) turned off and signed in as an Administrator.
(Haven't tried it with UAC on)

Thanks, that sorted it - I also had duplicate in news that I had to remove also but now working fine.
