| | Re: cannot send or receive That type of error is often caused by interference from a non- compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. For more information on why email scanning is bad, see http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Gemini" <Gemini@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B2082BF2-8173-40D6-BBDE-18C10CD7283E@xxxxxx Quote: > hi > I just got a new computer and I set-up my e-mail account and it worked fine > then. | | Re: cannot send or receive Norton antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail. Symptoms often don't start until months later. Also, turning off its email scanning is seldom sufficient. The only way you can prove or disprove that Norton is the culprit is to uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039 Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of aggressive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Gemini" <Gemini@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:14FEC044-DDC9-4B9B-8508-E6CCDB360A32@xxxxxx Quote: >I have turned off my e-mail protection but it is still giving me the same > error I am running norton antivirus > > getting despret > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> That type of error is often caused by interference from a non- >> compatible antivirus program.
