| | can't find my email groups when I go to email them I am trying to email a group, but I can't find them when i click "To". All that appears are the individual contacts. I've heard that they are supposed to appear in bold, but they just don't appear at all. Help told me that you go to contacts then right click and choose "action" but "action" does not appear. |

| | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them Click on Contacts. When that opens, right-click on the Group name, select Action, Send E-mail. Note: This works much better in the newer Windows Live Mail. | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them You quoted the "help" exactly, but as I said, "Action" does not apper as an option when I right click on the group. I have Windows Mail and my OS is Vista. My computer is less than 2 months old. "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Click on Contacts. | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them And why can i not see all my organized address books when i want to send an email (like in XP)? is that an error or the new way? it is not helpful. also i have created mailing list groups that say they exist but do not appear anywhere. and can you ever import a group or book as a book instead of just filling the main list with all the names? -- Darryl Palmer ACTRA,CDJA,CODJA thesingingdj.com 416 4639283 "plowteacher" <plowteacher@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 6D990DA-2F4A-4FC0-9262-C57B0B22C5F0@xxxxxxQuote: >I am trying to email a group, but I can't find them when i click "To". | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them I don't know why you are not seeing 'Action' when right-clicking on a group. As I said, one solution is to upgrade to WLM. One possibility to try: Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows Contacts". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "plowteacher" <plowteacher@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:62CB96E1-80F6-46A5-9992-CD6AF932615A@xxxxxx Quote: > You quoted the "help" exactly, but as I said, "Action" does not apper as an > option when I right click on the group. | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them The Group information is not transferred when doing an export/import. In Windows Mail, clicking on 'To:' does not show the group names, just the complete list of contacts. Windows Live Mail does this properly, to which you are welcome to upgrade: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Darryl Palmer" <darrylpalmer@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OefdAUuAJHA.2276@xxxxxx Quote: > And why can i not see all my organized address books when i want to send an > email (like in XP)? is that an error or the new way? it is not helpful. > also i have created mailing list groups that say they exist but do not > appear anywhere. > and can you ever import a group or book as a book instead of just filling > the main list with all the names? > > -- > Darryl Palmer > ACTRA,CDJA,CODJA > thesingingdj.com > 416 4639283 > "plowteacher" <plowteacher@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news 6D990DA-2F4A-4FC0-9262-C57B0B22C5F0@xxxxxxQuote: >>I am trying to email a group, but I can't find them when i click "To". | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them In WM, in the New Message window, clicking on To: opens the Select Recipients window, and I can see the groups I have created. | | Re: can't find my email groups when I go to email them No, I don't know of any way to have all the groups at the top, unless you rename them to come early in alphanumeric order, such as 1Group, 2Group, 3Group, etc. Yes, Windows Live Mail is totally separate from Windows Mail. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "musiclover" <musiclover@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:7A2607B9-5AC5-4FC8-8DFD-50E0359DFC1C@xxxxxx Quote: > yes thanks for these notes, now i see my groups, i was missing them in the > huge list of addresses. can i arrange them to appear together at the top? > it even appears that one large group did import as a group, as well as > showing up as separate addresses in the main list!! amazing. > > does live mail load and run separate from windows mail? no need to lose > what i have now? > -- > musicman toronto > > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> Yes, sorry, I misspoke. >> The Group name should indeed be visible and bolded. >> >> The OP should review the tutorial below for more information on how >> to create and handle groups: >> Contact Groups in Windows Mail >> >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) >> >> >> "Dave" <dave@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ePx5tDwAJHA.2712@xxxxxx Quote: >> > In WM, in the New Message window, clicking on To: opens the Select >> > Recipients window, and I can see the groups I have created.
