Re: Yahoo

Do you have a paid Yahoo account or a free one?

Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.

Re: Yahoo

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
For more information on why email scanning is bad, see

Re: Yahoo

Phil, keep trying I check my mail everyday and today for some reason it refused point blank giving me same error message as you and have tried at least 3-4 times today and just tried again and its working fine which seems to tell me it was a Yahoo problem. If not try making a new file and see if that works sometimes find windows updates that update your windows mail can cause the files to act odd so always have a copy of all my files and the set up info saved in a folder named Email Set Up Info

Re: Yahoo

Yes, a temporary server malfunction could indeed cause
that type of error message.

Re: Magda to Gary

I don't think yahoo.co.uk supports port 995, so keep it on port 110.

You basically have two choices at this point.
1. a. Uninstall Avira, reboot, then test WM again. If no improvement:
1. b. Uninstall Spyware Doctor, reboot, then test WM again.
If no improvement, proceed to step 2.

2. (You can go here directly, without uninstalling anything.)
Download and install Windows Live Mail (WLM):

http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

WLM is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive security
programs.

Either way, email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for
reasons explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Avira, so I can't give you the exact steps to
disable its email scanning.
