Hi there, I've just updated my computer from a XP one to a Vista one. I copied all the .dbx files (including folder.dbx) into a folder called Outlook Express, and want to copy them into Office on my Vista computer (I'm not sure what version of Outlook Express was on my XP Computer). On my new computer, I'm running Vista Home Basic 32bit, and Outlook 2002 (It came as part of Microsoft Office XP, which I loaded onto the new computer). I have a copy of the Outlook Express folder in the my documents folder on the new hard drive, but when I go to import them into Oulook, the following happens:
- I open up Outlook, and go to File -> Import and Export -> Import internet mail and addresses {hit the next button}
- In the screen where I choose which format to import them, the only option I get relating to Outlook is Outlook Express 4.x, 5 (there isn't an Outlook Express 6 option to click on), and I click on Import Mail Option only {hit the finish button}
- I choose the folder that is sitting in the my documents folder (the one that I copied from the old computer, the one that contains all the .dbx files) {hit the OK button}
- the following Import Error Message comes up: Tha mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using this file, please close it and try again.
Then it doesn't import any messages.
I've gone through to make sure that the files aren't read only, and I didn't copy the files when Outlook was open on the old computer. If anyone has any ideas on how to make this work, they would be appreciated. Thanks in advance (and apologies for such a long message!!)
