Mozilla vs windows Mail

I tried recently to make Mozilla my mail client but when I completed the process niether my addressbook nor folders transferred. Also, nothing stayed on the server (there was no checkbox for this and I stupidly didn't think about it.)
I want to use Windows mail now. My questions--can I expect everything to automatically transfer ie folders, addressbook? Also, when I went through the wizard on a trial run there was no box to check to keep copies on the server. I saw it when I looked in tools->accounts->advanced but am confused as to at what point you check this.
Thank you

You mean, transfer from Mozilla Thunderbird to Windows Mail? No, not
without installing an add-on for Thunderbird. Take a look at

I suggest you disconnect from the Internet before creating the new account,
so it does not have a chance to download from the server. Then go into that
Advanced option right after creating the account.
