| | Email does not retrieve or send. no error message very strange behaviour today. windows email will not send or retrieve email. when you tell it to run the dialogue box pops up ad goes away without trying to connect. If you look quickly you can see "0 of 0 tasks performed". However, just to be annoying, once this morning this bad behaviour stopped and retrieved mail. then it inexplicably started not sending or retrieving mail again. any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? thanks |

| | Re: Email does not retrieve or send. no error message Intermittent problems like that are often caused by interference from a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "keithfox" <keithfox@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:04838EF5-EE7E-42A8-9D34-A323F46519A1@xxxxxx Quote: > correction. it does send. > > the behaviour below is really applicable to receiving. > > how do I know i have email?
