| | Re: Windows Mail Strange Messages That type of problem can be caused by interference from a non- compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "songmother" <songmother@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:8B42CD2B-96BA-4CFA-8C41-193803BB0860@xxxxxx Quote: > Sometimes when opening Windows Mail I get a message saying unable to show > folders due to shortage of disk space or low memory. > Brand new laptop, only had a few days. > Anyone got any answers. > regards > -- > songmother |

| | Re: Windows Mail Strange Messages My windows vista crashed after a few months. I am finding bugs all the time. I wanted to put in windows xp as they had shipped me the disc by mistake. They weren't having that. I talked to a teckie at Bell and he told me to send my dell back and buy a MAC. I am honestly thinking to doing so. Anyway, Dell shipped me another Vista to install and I did. Still I am having constant problems. I still have the XP disc. I am in a dilema as what to do. The contstant bugs in Vista are annoying me. | | Re: Windows Mail Strange Messages You don't give anything like enough detail on your problem rather than your dealings with Dell to be able to help you much. I would caution you that moving from Vista to XP is often a major chore if your are not a bit of a techie. All the drivers for you machine will have to be located and have to be in versions for XP, or many parts of the system will not work after the conversion. It's possible the disk they sent you contains them, but often it is just an XP install disk, and the drivers won't be there. Be sure you find about that if before you attempt to install XP. Lots of folks seem to be under the delusion that Macs are somehow free of all the problems of PC's, but they ARE PC's and their forums clearly indicate that there are a raft of problems with them as well. From where I sit, about all you would be doing is spending more money and probably getting a new set of problems. Give it some thought. On the one error you describe, it is usually a conflict with the Antivirus program on the machine that causes it. Shut off the Email scanning at least in the Antivirus program. There are hundreds of posts here having that problem, and most of them remove Norton or the other installed antivirus systems and install compatible ones. If you want advice, I'm sure someone will jump in here with some for you. Take a deep breath, relax, and think about these things. Then do what you think is right for you. | | Re: Windows Mail Strange Messages This newsgroup is for issues concerning the Windows Mail program. If you have a specific Windows Mail problem, we can help you with that. If your problem is with something other than Windows Mail, we can steer you to an appropriate forum. Ragging about Vista in general does not help anything. Most Vista users have very few if any problems. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Sharon koenig" <gabbygirl2001@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 3DAB0B9-5272-4413-BD39-9EF80DBFCDF6@xxxxxxQuote: > My windows vista crashed after a few months.
