Re: Cannot send emails

Need more details. Do you get an error message when you try to send?
If so, right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.

Re: Cannot send emails

Charter says you are connecting through a network from
Morristown Utilities. Charter does not allow you to use their SMTP
server if your connection is from somewhere else. Unfortunately,
most cable companies will not accommodate customers who need
to send while away from home. Are you using a laptop?

The available workarounds when sending away from home are as follows:

1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser).
2. If you use the same away-from-home connection frequently, substitute the SMTP
server belonging to that connection. This is a bit tricky, but if you want to go that route,
I can provide more details.
4. If you frequently send from multiple locations, get a free Gmail account,
configure it for POP access, and use it for your sending chores.
Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked like port 25 is.

Re: Cannot send emails

Yes I am using a laptop. I have a router of my own and a modem but I must
not have it hook up right. I can't get it to come up on my computer. All
the lights are blinking as if it works. I guess you can tell I am not much
of a computer person. haha Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Cannot send emails

I understand you are using a laptop, but why would Charter say that
you are connecting through Morristown Utilities? Does that ring a
bell at all? Do you only use the laptop at home, or sometimes
away from home?

It isn't clear what you mean by "I can't get it to come up on my computer."
Can you elaborate on that?

Re: Cannot send emails

Well, that is the source of the problem.
Charter is not going to allow you to send through their SMTP server
as long as you are connected to the Internet through a non-Charter
connection.

Your best alternative for the time being is to use webmail for sending:
http://www.charter.net/files/charter...php?to=webmail
