Mail will not connect to server after installed Vista Service Pack

Windows Mail will not connect to server after I installed the Vista Service
Pack 1. This is the error I receive: Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Server:
'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC19

I have disabled Trend Micro for scanning the incoming and outgoing e-mails
and this has not helped.

Re: Mail will not connect to server after installed Vista Service Pack

Your problem is most likely caused by your antivirus.
Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall.

Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
overly intrusive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Re: Mail will not connect to server after installed Vista Service

I am having the same problem. Windows mail worked just fine until I upgraded
to Service Pac for Vista. Now I can receive email just fine but I cannot send
any email

Here is the error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Test', Account: 'pop-server.hot.rr.com', Server:
'smtp-server.hot.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0F

I called my service provider Time Warner Roadrunner and verified all my info
was correct. I tried to disable the Trend Micro as discussed in various posts
to no solution. I can go to the Time Warner on line system and make things
work but it does not couple to my Contacts List..

If I upgrade to Windows Live Mail will it connect to my contact list to
enter email address automatically. I do not want to have to reenter all this
data again - as a matter of fact if I need to reload the data I will switch
to Apple as the Vista system seems to not be very user friendly based on the
number of virus programs you recommend deleting.

Re: Mail will not connect to server after installed Vista Service

Yes, Windows Live Mail will automatically import all your accounts, settings,
and emails. It will usually do the same for contacts, but if it doesn't, there is
a very easy manual import procedure that works well.
