Re: can receive mail but not send.

A couple days ago I started receiving error messages (examples attached) each
time I try to send an email. I'm receiving email just fine.

Re: can receive mail but not send.

You are the fifth person today with this same problem.
I'm not sure what's going on with the AT&T Yahoo servers.
Your settings are correct. Which antivirus are you running?

Re: can receive mail but not send.

Your problem is most likely caused by your antivirus.
Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall of Trend Micro.

Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
overly intrusive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:

Re: can receive mail but not send.

I'm having the exact same problem. This just stated happening 2 weeks ago with my ATT Yahoo DSL service. I deleted the two accounts that were causing the problem and rebuilt them (Windows Mail). When I did this I forgot to check Enable SSL on the Security tab. The email accounts sent and received fine, but I received the notice from Yahoo saying that I did not have SSL enabled. When I reset the ports to 465 and 995, and checked SSL, the problem occured again. This does not appear to be an antivirus problem (I have OneCare), because nothing has changed, and it worked 2 weeks ago.

Has anyone come up with a resolution? I have an open ticket with ATT Yahoo, but they are saying this is something unique with me.

Thanks, Dean

Re: can receive mail but not send.

There is a recent issue caused by an update to OneCare.

In Windows Mail:
1. Click on Tools, Options, Security, Digital IDs.
2. Under the Personal tab you will see a digital ID. Highlight it
and click the Remove button.
Restart Windows Mail and try sending. Please report back,
because we are not sure whether this fix resolves the issue.
