unable to send / recieve

since setting up my new notebook I have been unable to access my email
useing the notebook . the error message that I keep getting is this.
Account: 'Mail.bigpond.com', Server: 'Mail.bigpond.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR a user name MUST be entered', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91. I would appreciate
some help from an expert in solving this problem.

thanks Steve

Re: unable to send / recieve

Go to 'Tools|Accounts' click your email account, slick the "Properties"
button and go to the "Servers" tab. Do you have entries in the "email
username" and "password" boxes in the "Incoming Mail Server" section? The
error message indicates no entries in these boxes.

Re: unable to send / recieve

Why are you using port 995 and SSL?

Try the super secret Comcast port 587 setting...

follow the last steps... starting with 10.

Re: unable to send / recieve

Dave,
I have the exact same problem .... I set up my laptop email exactly as my
isp provider suggested..... I have a pop3 account and incoming is
pop.west.cox.net and the outgoing is smtp.west.cox.net ... I put in my
username and password, but it won't let me send any mail .... I get the same
exact error code as the other person. What can I do?

Rick

Re: unable to send / recieve

Hard to say without seeing the complete error message.
Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.

Re: unable to send / recieve

Are you sending from home, or from a laptop away from home?
This looks like a port 25 block, see
