Is there a maximum number of message recipients

On a few occasions I have had a problem sending e-mails to multiple users.
The error message refers to the last e-mail address in the list. When I
remove this name the message goes.

I checked the last time this happened and the successful send hd 20
recipients. Is there a limit on the number of 'send to' bames that can be
used in Windows Mail or is there a user setting or could it be my ISP
restricting the number.

If nobody can provide a general explanation I will send off a test e-mail to
generate the error message and post that.

RE: Is there a maximum number of message recipients

Further to my earlier posted question I have done a test with 22 recipients
and have recieved the error message pasted beneath

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'g.tattum@xxxxxx'. Subject 'This is Just a
Test No Response Needed Please Just Delete', Account: 'pop.freeserve.com',
Server: 'smtp.freeserve.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 Error:
too many recipients', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

RE: Is there a maximum number of message recipients

Sorry All,
should hav put my glasses on. The error message does read 'Too Many
Recipients'. The moral is always read error messages. The limit for all
recipients including copied to is probably 20. I think that this will turn
out to be a restriction imposed by my ISP rather than a 'Windows Mail'
restriction.

Re: Is there a maximum number of message recipients

Correct. There is no limit imposed by Windows Mail.

Re: Is there a maximum number of message recipients

Thanks Gary,
I've figured it out. As in my earlier posting I should havw read the error
message more carefully and gone for my reading glasses.

I see from an earlier posting that you are retired (like me). Enjoy, and
thank you.
