Email attachments

Just started using Windows.vista.mail - working well except for:
1. Attachments won't open.
The help section merely says double click on the attachments icon to open.
Did that and still nothing.

2. Would like to have notice of what email has been delivered while I am
working in another program. (The way Outlook used to.)

Thanks - Maureen

Re: Email attachments

1. Under 'Tools|Options|Security', make sure the "Do not allow attachments
to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" checkbox is NOT
checked.

2. All that Windows Mail will do is play a sound when new email arrives, it
will not display a "New mail deskop alert" llike Outlook does.

Re: Email attachments

You must start in the main screen of Windows Mail.

Re: Email attachments

What *do* you see when you go to Tools, Options in Windows Mail?
You should see a series of tabs across the top, one of those being Security.
It should look like this:

Re: Email attachments

Gary, I dont have anything like what you show. My options in tools are; preferances|mail setup|format|spelling|other|delegates. I have looked at all the tabs and no where do I see "security".

Re: Email attachments

It doesn't sound like you are using Windows Mail.
What program name (and version) do you see when you click on
Help, About...

You are using a totally different program, Outlook 2007 is part of the
Office Suite.

Ask your question where the Office guys hang out please:
