Windows mail stops working error

I received a microsoft word animation file from a trusted friend. After
double clicking to open the file in windows mail I received an error message
that windows mail had stopped working and would restart. I had to sign in
again and proceeded to open the message. Since that time, I can open an
attachment for the first time after signing in but if I try to open another
attachment windows mail pops up the stopped working box and shuts down,
restarts and I have to sighn in again. I can then open 1 attachment and the
cycle will start all over again.

What happened, what can I do to fix it? This just suddenly started.

Thanks
David

Re: Windows mail stops working error

That problem is probably due to a rare interaction between your
antivirus and Windows Mail. The easiest way to fix it is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Re: Windows mail stops working error

Thank you Gary,

Other research I have done, has also been pointing in that same direction.
Thanks for the tip and taking time to post.

Have a great day,
David
