Re: Can't send email - read the threads but nothing works

One last question (maybe):
What virus program would you recommend?
I sure don't want this problem to suddenly appear again in the future.
And, would you recommend Windows Live Mail over Windows Mail?
I figure this drastic action may take me the next couple weeks to fully
recover from...
Thanks for all your help and input. I really appreciate it.
Chris

Re: Can't send email - read the threads but nothing works

Among the paid antivirus products I like CA Anti-Virus the best.
Of the free antivirus programs, the ones that are compatible
with Windows Mail are:

AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

However, with either of those, during the install phase you must select
'custom' install, and then deselect the email scanning module so it won't install.

Windows Live Mail (WLMail) has some advantages over Windows Mail.
The latter is not so easily bothered by aggressive antivirus products.
You can even use your Trend Micro antivirus with WLMail, as long as
you disable email scanning in the antivirus.

There are other reasons for going with WLMail, such as ongoing
support and development from Microsoft.

As a not very knowledgeable poster, I have hesitated responding previously
but am now putting in this piece of info. in the hope that it will assist in
solving your problem.
Two of my friends have recently had exactly the same difficulty. E-mails
could be received but could not be despatched.
They both have the same ISP and after trying every possibility were finally
allocated a secure connection on their server using a different port.
Suggest you take it up with your own ISP to see if they can do the same for
you.
Let us know if you do get success in this regard..
