Re: Error in Sending & Receiving Email

That type of error is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off your antivirus email scanning function does not resolve
your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it
is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus
programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

RE: Error in Sending & Receiving Email

I too am having problems with receiving and sending email in Mail. I just
updated windows and now I get Account: 'pop.charter.net', Server:
'pop.charter.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC19 or the same message with error code 0x800ccc15. I am using Trend
PC-cillin. I never had any problems before I updated. I did try turning off
the incoming scanning on Trend and it makes no difference. You say to
upgrade to Live Mail, but what happens to all my messages and addresses that
are in Mail folders? Can I save all my stuff? Will it be available to Live
Mail or is it lost for good?

Re: Error in Sending & Receiving Email

Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall. Just turning it
off is not sufficient.

Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
overly intrusive antivirus products: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

The Windows Live Mail installer will automatically import all of your
WM accounts, settings, and emails. Once in a while it skips the
contacts, but that is easily remedied with a manual import.
