| | Windows Mail Usenet 'quote' problem Just recently switched from a desktop pc using XP and OE, to a laptop using Vista and Windows Mail. I keep receiving complaints on Usenet that when I respond to a post made by someone using Google, my Windows Mail client does not place 'quote' marks on the original post. It is therefore difficult to discern what the op has said from my response. Anyone know why this is happening and how I can correct it? Ret. |

Tools - options - Send tab - News Sending Format - Plain Text Settings - Indent...... I have noticed that 2 posts I replied to didnt include the indent ">" even though my settings (as above) are set to indent. I didnt notice whether they were Google ones or not. I just thought it was a vista glitch at the time. I wonder if the indent is automatically set for all google posts and the 2 settings cancel each other out in some way? Its only a wild theory but wondering whether unticking the indent your end would make any difference to the posts without indent? ) |

| | Re: Windows Mail Usenet 'quote' problem So when you click 'Reply' or 'Reply Group' to a Google post, can you see the quoted text being indented with the '>' symbol? If not, the original poster (OP) used quoted-printable (QP) formatting. It is a known deficiency that WM (and OE) can not indent quoted QP text. That bug has been fixed in the newer Windows Live Mail, to which you are welcome to upgrade: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Ret." <xxx> wrote in message news:ks2dnYb6lfHHvmLVnZ2dnUVZ8rydnZ2d@xxxxxx Quote: > Just recently switched from a desktop pc using XP and OE, to a laptop using Vista and Windows Mail. > > I keep receiving complaints on Usenet that when I respond to a post made by someone using Google, my Windows Mail client does > not place 'quote' marks on the original post. I may well download Windows Live Mail however. Ret. |
