| | I cannot send or reply to email This is the error message I received:The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was 'christine1964@xxxxxx Subject 'Re: Oct 30', Account: 'POP3.mail.wowway.com', Server: 'SMTP.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.0.0 Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78 I am connected by wireless at a hotel. |

| | Re: I cannot send or reply to email The clue is in your last sentence: "wireless at a hotel". Generally speaking, in order for port 25 SMTP service to work, the owner of your SMTP server must be the same as the provider of your Internet connection at that moment. The available workarounds when sending away from home are as follows: 1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser). 2. Ask your home ISP if they have a port other than '25' for SMTP. 3. If you frequently send from multiple locations, get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and use it for your sending chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked like port 25 is. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "unionpres" <unionpres@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:CF49574A-A680-46F8-AC47-A4045EFED998@xxxxxx Quote: > This is the error message I received:The message could not be sent.
