| | Problems uploading newsgroup posts to Tera News I'm having problems uploading any newsgroups posts to Tera News. A few weeks ago, I downloaded more than their limit for one day, and decided to wait out the resulting restriction instead of paying them more. I finally found the information on how to set up the account, and used this to restore the ability to download since Windows Mail forgot my password for this account. Even several days afterwards, though, I have not been able to upload any posts there again. Asking their level2 email address for help has given no results even after a few weeks. Asking their help email address for help gave only an automated response to do a few things at this website, without including any clear instructions on how to find which website they were referring to: http://www.teranews.com/manageaccount.html Typical error message from trying to upload a post: Windows Mail could not post your message. Subject 'Re: Crematie Bloemen.rarCrematie Bloemen.rar (01/89)', Account: 'free.teranews.com', Server: 'free.teranews.com', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '403 Remote Server Unavailable', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 403, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9 This was a rather short reply saying mainly that they forgot to include yEnc in the subject line, with very little of the post I replied to quoted (only enough to show that it came in yEnc format). I've already applied the change here for adding @teranews.com to the end of my username; it doesn't help with the uploads problem. http://www.teranews.com/ Unfortunately neither of the two other newsgroups servers I use carries binaries any more; I've already moved my non-binaries newsgroups to one of the other two servers where possible. I've stopped recommending Tera News as a place to get a nearly free newsgroups server offering binaries. |

Only one one them showed up for downloads, though. Maybe the people who are supposed to read email to their level2 email address are busy reading this newsgroup instead, and only do something about problems if they are reported in this newsgroup. They could make it easier to reach people there who will actually do something to fix the problems, even if they decide not to send a response. |
