    What Is Directory Service

In Windows Mail, Tools, Accounts, an item is listed "Directory Service".
And under Directory Service there are two items ; Active Directory and
Verisign Internet Directory Service. What is a directory service, and what
    is Verisign? Thanks.

    Re: What Is Directory Service

Those services are useful only in a corporate setting.
In a large organization, you can't possibly have everyone in your
Contacts list, so the directory service does a lookup by name,
like a telephone book. However, for ordinary users it is not
useful and can even slow things down. I routinely delete any
    directory services.
