| | Re: can't send or reply to email I too have had the same problem. I was able to receive and send e-mails fine until the end of last week. Suddenly, I am able to receive e-mails but not send or reply to any. I keep getting the following error message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: ', Account: 'thechef@xxxxxx', Server: 'smtp.everestkc.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Any help would be greatly appreciated! | | Re: can't send or reply to email When you got that error, was your Internet connection coming through Everestkc? Were you on a laptop away from home? As a general rule, the owner of the SMTP server must be the same as the one providing your Internet connection at that moment. We can suggest some workarounds once we know your circumstances. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "tam" <tam@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:318EE474-D8EB-4266-830A-4D24729AE21A@xxxxxx Quote: >I too have had the same problem. | | Re: can't send or reply to email The laptop was being used at home; however, the internet connection was through Comcast. Although these were not the same, it worked fine for almost 6 months and then suddenly no longer worked. Any help? | | Re: can't send or reply to email Comcast has been in the process of phasing out all port 25 access. Internet service providers are periodically tightening up their rules and practices in order to slow down the spammers. You will have to change the SMTP server name from smtp.everestkc.net to smtp.comcast.net. Your correspondents won't notice anything different. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "tam" <tam@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:47A9F373-355B-4B01-95D7-6B7B376F1243@xxxxxx Quote: > The laptop was being used at home; however, the internet connection was > through Comcast.
