Vista - Repeated "compact message store" message

I have clicked "ok" when this message pops up and changed my settings as
instructed to 100 runs, but still keep receiving this pop up. I hardly ever
use
Windows mail and there are no messages in any of my folders. Any info would
be greatly appreciated. Additionally, I have tried just cancelling the
message box but it just keeps coming back up. If I do click ok it will stop
for a few minutes but then resumes.

1. I opted to compact messages about 5 days ago and now incoming messages are
disappearing from my Inbox daily to the message store folder. How can
messages stored in the WindowsMail file be opened?

2. How can I prevent the incoming emails from disappearing to this folder? I
have increased the number of runs and it seems to make no difference.

Open the Inbox folder, then look near the upper right corner.
Does it say "Hide Read Messages" or "Show All Messages"?
Each folder saves its 'current view' setting, so check that setting in
every folder.
