| | cant send mail? got this error message.. The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was 'Zoe.Bevan@xxxxxx'. | | Re: cant send mail? got this error message.. That server doesn't use port 25 without SSL. It uses port 465 with SSL. | | Re: cant send mail? got this error message.. "Unknown error" is usually caused by interference from a non- compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account. If no improvement, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Zoe" <Zoe@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:257EE589-6F77-4225-A7D7-BCCAB3687335@xxxxxx Quote: > changed to 465 - still got this message - > An unknown error has occurred.
