Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Hi,

Double-clicking on an attachment doesn't result in the opening of the
attachment in the proper application. No error-messages are displayed.
Right-clicking and selecting Open from the floating menu works perfect.

Somebody any idea?

Thanks,

Fons

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Does this happen with all attachments, regardless of file type?
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail.

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for
reasons explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
do a trial uninstall of your antivirus. If no improvement, you can
always reinstall it. Instead of uninstalling your antivirus, consider
upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Turning off the incoming email scanning function doesn't solve the problem.

Re-installing Bullguard isn't an option (pre-installed); besides, I'm
convinced that originally double-clicking on attachments worked before.
Maybe some change or installation has introduced the problem.
I have been looking in the registry to find some keys related to Mail and
attachments but didn't find anything appropriate.

Upgrading to Windows Live Mail is an option I was already envisaging.

regards,
fons

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

I don't have any additional suggestions beyond what I've already
given you. Give Windows Live Mail a try. If if turns out you don't
like it, just uninstall.

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Some cause of the problem found.
Some background: I use a laptop and an external screen and the desktop is
spread over both screens.
When I move a message to the external screen I cannot open the attachments
by double-clicking.
When the message is on the laptop-screen there is no problem opening an
attachment by double-clicking.

Why it doesn't work from the external screen remains a mystery.

Thanks for the help,
fons

Re: Double-click to open attachment doesn't work

Sorry, I've never used two screens, so I can't comment on this issue.
