| Vista 64 | Is There a problem with Vista Windows Mail ? I am noticing numerous posts about being able to recieve mail but not sending or vice versa. Is Vista aware or this or is this a common transiant situation. My computer is still under warranty and am starting to wonder if I should keep it. (64 bit Vista Core 4) I had an earlier post but had no help . Here is another copy of an error message I keep receiving on sending mail: The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was '<My email address'. Subject 'Test 4', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.5.0 <My email address> missing or malformed local part', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 Would appreciate some insights Thanks |

| | Re: Is There a problem with Vista Windows Mail ? You're using incorrect settings. The SSL option should never be used with port 587. Uncheck the SSL option under Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced. Your ISP has published the settings you should be using: http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ...s.ashx?Id=2288 -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "ChebiP" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:243f953403653eb97d8a2b001e15aa94@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | Vista 64 | Re: Is There a problem with Vista Windows Mail ? Thanks Gary for your suggestion. As it turned out that was part of the solution. By a process of elimination I realized that "Easy transfer" from my old to new computer was moody to say the least and had stopped abruptly a couple of times, with a "Non recoverable error". This resulted in my new address book being messed up with corrupted email addresses rasing havoc with my outgoing mail due to the corrupted adresses. Deleting and re-entering those addresses resolved the problem. Quite an experience. Thanks again for your input and hope my trial and tribulations will help others in resolving outgoing mail issues other than correct set up. Cheers |
