There are a whole group of Live programs (mail, calendar, photo gallery, messenger, etc.) If you mean Windows Live Mail, both are email programs and newsreaders. WLM is newer, works better, and replaces WM. WLM can access Hotmail/Live/MSN email accounts, which WM cannot.
