| | Spell Check Not Working Hi, My Windows Mail spell check has not been working for a few days. I thought that something was wrong and it would be fixed my MS but so far it's not. This is what's happening: After I write an email and click on "ABC", I get a message that says "An eror occurred while spelling was being checked". When I click on "Send", I get a message that says "The spell check on this document was halted". I checked in the Discussion Group if anyone else was having this problem and found a discussion from last year that said to go to Tools, Options, Spelling Tab, Choose another language other than the one you are using, and click Apply. Then Choose "English" or what ever language you are using, click Apply, then OK. But I'm still getting the same message that I was receiving before. Can anyone help me? Thanks -- Nadia |

| | Re: Spell Check Not Working Hi Gary, What is the difference between WM & WLM? I remember reading somewhere is the community postings a few months ago that WLM was not very good. People were having problems with it and wanted to revert back to WM. Anyway, my spellcheck worked fine until a few days ago when I began to get those messages that I wrote about. Do you know what suddenly happened to stop spellcheck from working? Thanks, -- Nadia "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > I suggest you upgrade to the newer Windows Live Mail program: > > http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview > > It has a much better spell check. > > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) > > > "Nadia" <Nadia@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:0C0E1F41-E028-4AC0-9EB0-DABFAD4AF3F7@xxxxxx Quote: > > Hi, > > > > My Windows Mail spell check has not been working for a few days. | | Re: Spell Check Not Working WM is a "released to manufacturing" component of Microsoft Vista. It has fewer bugs, in my experience. Otoh, no one is doing development work on WM, and they haven't for two years. This is bad. WLM can connect directly to Hotmail accounts. You can install third party spell checkers for WLM, and you can add foreign languages from localized versions of Office (this is a pain in the neck, but you can do it). I imported my messages from Outlook Express into WLM, and then exported them to Outlook. At the end of the process, all the email addresses of my correspondents were gone. "Friendly Names" were still there. Afaik, WM does not have serious data corruption bugs like this, but people in these groups can't even find the spell check files for WM, let alone know how to fix them. | | Re: Spell Check Not Working I would estimate that better than 90% of the people who switched from WM to WLM were happier with it. The best way to discover the differences is to try it out. If it turns out you don't like it, merely uninstall, and WM is back just like before. A newer version of WLM is just finishing its beta testing, and it should be released soon. The older released version (November 2007) is also still available: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Nadia" <Nadia@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:467344B5-28AE-4A3C-B3F9-BC90B6E87D91@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Gary, > > What is the difference between WM & WLM? | | Re: Spell Check Not Working That's optional, just decline it. Most people have a preferred search engine, either Yahoo or Google or Live Search. You can change your preferred search engine at any time. In Internet Explorer, look on the far right of the bar that has the URL address. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Nadia" <Nadia@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B64B55C2-4937-41F2-8430-5B38CF358BDC@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Gary, > > How do I know what kind of search engine I now have.
