The setting are usually different for each email provider. However, if I remember correctly, the live.com email provider won't connect to Windows Mail properly since it uses the HTTP protocol, which Windows Mail won't handle. In this case, you may prefer the Windows Live Mail email/newsreader program, which will handle the HTTP protocol as well as the POP3, IMAP, and SMTP protocols: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview If you install it, expect to import all the messages currently stored under Windows Mail and most of its settings, then hide (but not delete) Windows Mail. | | Re: Server information Do you really want to use a desktop mail client like Windows Mail, or would you prefer to continue using Hotmail via the web? If the latter, try this fix: http://www.winhelponline.com/article...ows-Vista.html -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "JJ" <pol.123@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OM6SHm8YJHA.1528@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, I am trying to respond to a craig's list add, a window opens for set-up email servers; > 1.
