Vista - Windows mail ,Cannot send or recieve

Whenopened windows mail has suddenly asked for a user name and password. When these are entered it comes up with the following error messages

The host 'mail@iinet.net.au' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Account: 'mail@iinet.net.au', Server: 'mail@iinet.net.au', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11003, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D


Account: 'mail.iinet.net.au', Server: 'mail.iinet.net.au', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Invalid command.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91

If someone has a proven solution Please please help

You posted two different error messages. Are they for separate accounts?
The first error message shows an incorrect mail server name.
"mail@xxxxxx" is not valid for a server name. Change it to
mail.iinet.net.au.

The second error message has the correct server name.
The following setting may need correcting:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

If that setting was already unchecked, which antivirus are you running?
