Vista - An error occurred while initializing MAPI

Hi All,

When I try to used Windows Mail Export to export e-mail to MIcrosoft Exchange,

It kept prompting this Message,
The export could not be preformed.
An error occurred while initializing MAPI

Is there a third party software to convert it into PST format?

Please help! Thanks

Is Outlook installed and setup on the machine you're using to do the
transfer? Outlook must be present and setup with a profile that has a .PST
file attached to it. What version of Outlook?

I've removed the outlook 2003 quite sometime back, I'll re-install to test it again.

Hello I need help configuring my windows mail. I can;t send emails it says
that I need to configure. How do I do that

I see you posted with a Yahoo email address. Is that your
only email address? US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail
access only, no POP access. Windows Mail handles POP mail but not
webmail. There are two Yahoo solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...iew/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-14.html

If you are OK with using a non-Yahoo email address, you have three other
solutions:
* Use the email address assigned to you by your ISP.
* Get a free Gmail account.
* Get a free Hotmail/Live account, and use it with the Windows Live Mail email program.

Hal/All,

I have this "MAPI initialization failure" problem also.

Trying to:
Export messages from Windows Mail to Outlook 2003

My configs/info:
Outlook 2003
Vista x64
Outlook is my default mail handler (POP3 accounts; no Exchange server)
Two user accounts - both have .pst folders associated with them and
reside in default Vista paths
Win Mail confirms it is not the default mail handler

Tried:
Moving a .pst folder to Win Mail in case it was looking there for the
.pst
Repairing Office 2003 with original CD
Exporting with and without Outlook running

Am:
at wits end...

Any ideas?
