| | How to STOP WM from remembering last "To:" addressee Hi All, I guess I am getting old and feeble and I am always in such a hurry. Here is my problem. My daughter's name starts with an A. We email back and forth all day long and almost every day. Yesterday, I sent an email to our tax preparer who's name also begins with A. I am so used to just hitting the "A" in the "To:" field and it automatically enters my daughter's email address, but since I sent one stinkin' email yesterday to someone else who's name begins with "A" now every time I just hit "A" it brings up my tax prepares name and not my daughter's! Yesterday there was a bit of an embarrassment because an email meant for my daughter went to my tax preparer because of this stupid WM feature. I have sent several emails to my daughter today just to get her name back to the default and it still remember the tax preparer's email address first. How do I stop this annoying feature (which I hate even calling it that). I just know I am going to do another social faux pau if I don't remember to look out for this. HELP! |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: How to STOP WM from remembering last "To:" addressee Hello Peggy, It is the autocomplete feature in Windows Mail doing this. You can turn it off by clicking on Tools, Options, Send tab, uncheck the "Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing" box, and click on OK. Hope this helps, Shawn Hi All, I guess I am getting old and feeble and I am always in such a hurry. Here is my problem. My daughter's name starts with an A. | | Re: How to STOP WM from remembering last "To:" addressee A couple things that might help you: 1. When you type "A" there should be a list of options, simple click on her address to complete the TO line. 2. Rather than just typing "A" try typing enough of her address to be unique. I.E. "An" if her address is Annie@xxxxxx. This will work as long as you can type enough to be unique. 3. To temporarily delete a name from the list, try this: open a new message type the "A" which should pull up a drop down list of the recent "A" addresses. highlight but DON'T select the address that you DON'T want (your tax man's in this case) hit the delete key. your daughter's address should be the only address left (assuming there were only the 2 addresses to start with) type your message to your daughter as normal and send it Next time you send her a message her address should be the only one on the list. This will only work until the next time you send a message to your accountant, at which time that address will show up again, so it isn't fool proof.
