| | Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working In Microsoft Vista Mail my spell check is not working. It was previously on the standard toolbar but just disappeared. It is an option when you click on the "tools" button on a new message. It will run the spell check but it doesn't leave the red/green squiggly lines to indicate that a word/grammer is incorrect although it did this before. When I go to add it to the toolbar again by clicking on the toolbar/ add or remove buttons/standard (in a blank message) it is not even listed as an option to add. When I go to "tools/options/spelling" the appropriate boxes are checked, the "auto correct" options are checked, and the language, although it was originally English, was changed to another language (followed by hitting "apply") then back to English (followed by hitting "apply"). How do I get this to work again? |

| | RE: Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working Open a "new" e-mail note. Spellcheck symbol should be in the tool bar at the top of the note. If not. right click on the tool bar then click on "customize" . The right side shows symbols on the tool bar, the left side shows the ones you can add. The grammer check question I'm not sure of I'm thinking that will be a " preferences " setting. Can't help with that, sorry. | | Re: Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working The instantaneous red squiggly underline is available in the newer Windows Live Mail, to which you are welcome to upgrade: http://download.live.com/wlmail It only checks spelling, not grammar. You would need Outlook if you want grammar checked. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) <dpacheco@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:3699d13d-920d-4a65-b69c-419034c7c278@xxxxxx Quote: > In Microsoft Vista Mail my spell check is not working. | | Re: Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working OT: Since WLMail is not included in Vista by default but Windows Mail is, why do you refer to WLMail as an upgrade of Windows Mail? Would "...you are welcome to replace Windows Mail with WLMail" or "...you are welcome to migrate to WLMail" be more appropriate? -- ~Robear Gary VanderMolen wrote: Quote: > The instantaneous red squiggly underline is available in the > newer Windows Live Mail, to which you are welcome to upgrade: > http://download.live.com/wlmail |

| | Re: Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working I've explained this once before, but you may have missed it. Windows Live Mail was specifically designed to automatically import all WM accounts, settings, and emails. Yes, technically it is not an "upgrade", but we are dealing mostly with unsophisticated users here who fear that 'switching' to a different email program is beyond their skillset. The 'upgrade' moniker is less threatening. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PA Bear [MS MVP]" <PABearMVP@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23mT8PuOdJHA.5904@xxxxxx Quote: > OT: Since WLMail is not included in Vista by default but Windows Mail is, why do you refer to WLMail as an upgrade of Windows > Mail? How do I get this to work again?- Hide quoted text - > - Show quoted text - on the list of available to choose from. It actually only shows up when you go to a "new" email note and go to "toolbars." You can click on it there but it can't even be found anywhere else. Any suggestions for that? It was actually working yesterday but today, for some reason, it has just decided not to show up. |

| | Re: Microsoft Vista Mail spell check not working "Better" is a subjective judgment of quality or usefulness. Many people think their upgrade from XP to Vista did not result in "something better", yet it clearly meets the technical definition of software upgrade. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Tom Koch" <tom@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5F2C1C2B-B867-4003-948F-DB6F08901441@xxxxxx Quote: > Yes, that was very interesting.
