When you click on a link on Craigslist, it opens your default email program.
In Vista, the default email program is Windows Mail.
You can setup Windows Mail to access your POP3 or IMAP account, or install
another email program and make it the default.
Or, if you prefer using Hotmail or Yahoo webmail, maybe the following links

How do you normally send email?

Do you get an error message when you try to send or receive? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

I have a new lap top with Windows Vista also and after 15 years of using the
internet I have never had a problem sending a simple email via the web
(Craigslist, real estate search engine, etc.). I am getting the same error.
I have hotmail and downloaded Windows Live (again) per the Windows website
and it still gives me the same Pop 3, is not compatible error message when I
try to respond to an add. What in the world is wrong with this Vista program
that you can't perform normal, simple web based functions without some kind
of fix and what is the fix?

Click on "Tools" - "Accounts" - "Add.."
Click on "Email account"

Click on "Next"
Click on "Finish"

Now make sure that WLM is the default email program...

was what fixed it for me. At first it didn't seem to make any difference but
then I restarted and after that I was able to respond to the Craigslist and
