    Windows Mail will not open

Windows Mail will not open unless I turn my pc off then on again. Then it's fine for a while.
    Any suggestions?

If you open Task Manager does it appear in the process list? It could
be that it crashed during loading. Outlook did this to me a few years
ago and it turned out to be my Kaspersky AV plugin causing a problem.
If I ended the process in Task Manager after the 1st load, it would
then work (until I diagnosed further).

Cannot see Windows Mail in Task Manager - is it under a different name or code? Sorry if being a bit dim.

    Hello Jublee,

Under the Processes tab, it will be listed as "winmail.exe" for Windows Mail if running.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Yes I have winmail.exe in Task Manager when it's running.
I did not realise Windows Mail had to be running in order to see it in Task Manager. Thank you.

    Jublee,

You might also check to see if your antivirus program has any email scanning features turned on. If it does, then you should disable or turn that feature off to prevent it from interfering with Windows Mail.

Silly question No.2 Will having the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" box ticked have any bearings on the situation?

I am currently running Norton Anti Virus and will try to disable the email scanning feature.

    Thank you.

You should find a better antivirus program than Norton. It causes many
problems. See point 3 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

    Jublee,

I do not think so since you had received your email with it set that way before. This is for just logging into your email provider to retrieve your email, but you should check with you email provider instructions on setting up your email account to see if that is required to be checked for them though.

Since you are using Norton, check the first part of PROBLEM ONE below to see if this may be a issue for you.
