How to import contacts from Outlook 2003 to Vista Windows Contacts?

After downloading my contacts from Outlook 2003 under ".csv" format I cannot
upload it in Vista Windows Contacts. The upload gives all data for 1 contact
in same field, w/o sharing "Name", "First Name", "Adress" etc. Probably a
problem of mapping I cannot fix. Any idea?

1. Export your current Windows Contacts to a CSV file and examine the
formatting.

2. Edit the CSV file you saved from OL to conform to the formatting of #1
above.

Are you sure you created a .CSV file? The whole idea behind a .CSV file is
that each data element is surrounded by a quote-comma-quote sequence (",").
If all the data elements go into one field, it suggests these separators
aren't present or in the correct place. Outlook also supports the creation
of Tab Separated Values and such a file uses Tab characters instead of
commas as separators. Such a file, without commas, would likely place all
data into one field. You can open a .CSV file in notepad to check that the
separators are correct.

Thanks Hal, I opened the .CSV file with Notepad and there is a "," between
each element but Windows Mail doesn't recognize this coma when I upload.
Is-it special instruction to give when downloading to be sure to get the
correct format?
As I cannot send you the screenshot of .CSV opened with Notepad, I send it
to you on hhh@xxxxxx.
Thanks for your help.

Filename to use for Contacts backup?

I just imported my Contacts file from another computer into Windows Mail.

What folder path and filename should I add to my Backup list, to back up
this data?
