| | email disappears between webmail and windows mail Hi, I'm helping someone with their email. They have Vista and Windows Mail with email through Telus. They were set up with an IMAP account but she was encountering problems with "mailbox too full". So I decided to switch her to POP3 not realizing that I had to do that through Telus not just through the Tools, Accounts area. I created a new POP3 account, deleted the IMAP account, when I realized that deleted all her messages from the inbox I deleted the POP3 account and recreated the IMAP account. Then I contacted Telus and found out they had to make the IMAP to POP3 change on their end. I saved the messages she wanted to keep and had Telus make the change. I then deleted the IMAP account and created a new POP3 account and sent a test message to it. I checked the webmail and the message showed up in webmail but when I clicked send/receive the system checks for messages and says "no new messages" but the messages disappear from webmail. At no point do I get an error message. I went into the new POP3 account and deleted it, closed Windows Mail and reopened it, recreated the account. The test message still disappeared between webmail and her computer. I restarted and tried again, no change. I tried changing it leave a copy of messages on the server and they still disappeared. I'm thinking that the original POP3 that I created before deleting the IMAP didn't completely delete and that I've corrupted the file. I can send emails from the account without any problems. Can anyone provide some insight into what I've done and how to fix it? I've looked at various forums but can't find this particular problem. If this was outlook I'd just delete the PST file and create a new one but I don't know how to do that with Windows Mail or if it's possible. Thanks in advance for your help. Pamala |

If you send a new message to the address, does it show up in web-mail and Windows Mail? If not, something's (still) wrong on Telus' end, assuming (1) the account's configured properly in Windows Mail and (2) View | Current view is set to "Show all messages." -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ PureEvil wrote: Quote: > Hi, I'm helping someone with their email. | | Re: email disappears between webmail and windows mail Hi, thanks for the reply. The email shows up in webmail, but after I click send/receive on Windows Mail it disappears from webmail. I've tried several different test emails with the same result. I checked and it's set to Show All Messages. I rechecked the settings for the account and everything is entered correctly (I'm not getting any error messages about wrong settings or incorrect passwords.) Telus is telling me that Windows Mail is corrupt and I need to update it. I couldn't find anything telling me how to repair/update Windows Mail. | | Re: email disappears between webmail and windows mail Hi, the emails haven't been read yet, they don't show up in Windows Mail although they are making it to the webmail. I did check the View Options to make sure it reads "Show All Emails". Is you anti-virus application configured to scan incoming/outgoing mail? Is any sort of anti-spam application installed or in use (including MagicMailMonitor)? | | Re: email disappears between webmail and windows mail Hi, thanks for all your help, I believe the problem is solved. Turning off Incoming Email Scan in AVG did not help. In my research I found someone who suggested deleting the Windows Mail directory. (c:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail) After doing this I recreated the account and still had the problem, however, this time when I turned off incoming email scanning in AVG I was able to receive messages. I did an update for AVG and turned incoming email scanning back on and VOILA! I was able to receive messages. | | Re: email disappears between webmail and windows mail If you leave mail scanning enabled, it will eventually corrupt your Windows Mail again. Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm Your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option. If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "PureEvil" <PureEvil@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:BF405C66-0114-4A1C-921F-C7F061149A15@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, thanks for all your help, I believe the problem is solved.
