| Vista Home Premium 64 | Errors but no Error Codes? I'm trying to send e-mail from Vista Windows Mail. If I use the dropdown, I can send and receive e-mail. If I hit the "send/Receive" button, it says there are errors, but nothing is displayed, and mail is not received that is on the server. I've tried deleting and re-adding the account. But it does the same thing. It seems that something is out of synch in the application, and it needs to be fixed, but I can't figure out what or how to fix it. |

Some of them are not fully compatible with Windows Mail. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "dano3119" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:a3bec9a6efceb5d13e515b39093d8960@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | Vista Home Premium 64 | Re: Errors but no Error Codes? No anti Virus. Norton was supposed to be, but I haven't loaded it. I wanted to resolve this before adding another issue to the mix. The biggest issue is that messages don't come in. Is it possible something in the "newsgroups" settings are preventing the e-mail from receiving? And I don't understand why they would send and receive when I startup Mail, or use the dropdown to send that specific account, but not off the "button" on the screen. Thanks for the replies BTW. |

| | Re: Errors but no Error Codes? When you purchased that computer, didn't it have a trial version of Norton or McAfee antivirus? Those two will often leave troublesome digital debris behind. Settings pertaining to newsgroups have no effect on the ability to receive email messages. One solution would be to upgrade to Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "dano3119" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:758e14cb421f7d6f546480282868aa84@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | Vista Home Premium 64 | Re: Errors but no Error Codes? Gary, Thanks... Looks like it was the news group settings somehow. I ended up deleting all the "e-mail" and "NewsGroups", and then re-added just the e-mail account (I had only done the e-mail before). Now it all works. THe computer did have anti-virus originally, but the issues showed up after getting it "restored" from the geek squad, and restoring my mail on top of that. Either way, it all works now. Thanks for ideas. D |
