Vista - How to stop win mail recovering folders

HI

I had a inbox problem yesterday about a mail that was stuck, and that I was not able to delete. I followed the advide found somewhere in here, and deleted certain files in the mail folder in my user folder. This was to make winmail recover the mails and making the stuck mail deleteable.

This worked very well. However, now I am experiencing winmail making a new recovery of all the mail folders each time I open winmail, so that I have a large bunch of recovered messages folders. Each are from the same date. I have tried to delete this recoverred mail folders, but they just come back and back all over again, so that I now have 11 recovered folders with all the mail folders in, and when I open winmail it adds yet another one.

How do I stop this excessive recovery of folders?

The above is my main problem. I also have another one, which is not as important as the above problem, but if anybody know what to do I will be very grateful. The second problem is that after winmail did its first recovery of its folders and mails/messages, I tried to move the recovered messages to the new inbox/sent/deleted/trash, etc folders, but when I did this all the mails got blank, and I could not delete or move them, just like the original stuck mail in the inbox.

So, now I have a winmail that is too happy showing its recovery bravado, loads of copies of the same recovered folders and not a single recovered mail/message in any of all those folders.

Sometimes I am tempted to think of Vista as sort of a antichrist of the operative systems! Does anybody know what to do?

I have already read a lot in here and also googled the problem, but have not found anything that worked.

And, to Brink, if you read this, thanks a lot for all your great advice. You have helped me many times with your knowledge about other vista problems and tweaks.

I have Vista business edition btw.

Go to Tools>options>advanced>maintenance>message store.

Select and copy the location.

Cancel your way out of there.

Select the Recovered Message folders and delete them, then empty the deleted
items folder.

Close WM !!!!

Go to Control Panel>classic view (top left)>folder options>view tab>enable
Show hidden Files and Folders>apply/ok your way out.

Now go to the Start Button>Run, and paste the message store location, that
you copied earlier, to the run line>OK

This will open Windows Explorer to your message store, find and delete all
of
the Recovered Message folders.

Close Windows Explorer.

Do not Open WM yet !!!!!

Try using this utility to repair and compact the mail store, with WM closed

Please read the instructions.

Hopefully, that should sort you out for now.
