| | windows mail asks for login and password I use windows vista mail for several months, with login and password 'saved in memory'. Yesterday, when opening windows mail, there opens a dialog box that asks for my login and password. The reason is that both, login and password, have disappeared in my account settings. I'm sure that I have not myself deleted these settings. The settings for smtp and pop server, and so on... are not deleted. Any explanation? Can I trust it? Is there any risk that, when I re-install my settings, these settings are sent to anyone? Can the reason be any windows update? |

| | Re: windows mail asks for login and password Your username/password not being remembered is often caused by interference from an antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running? If this problem continues to happen, one thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account. Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs: http://download.live.com/wlmail -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "skynet" <webmaster@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:49e7026f$0$2864$ba620e4c@xxxxxx Quote: >I use windows vista mail for several months, with login and password 'saved > in memory'.
