Problems sending email

For the last 3 days when trying to send an email i keep getting the following
message:

Your server has unepectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Wedding dresses', Account: 'mail.bigpond.com(1), Server:
'mail.bigpond.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Message rejected',
Port: 25, Secure (SSL): NO, Server error:241, Socket error 10053, Error
N.mber: 0x800CC0F

Re: Problems sending email

The format of your error message looks a bit off. Did you retype it?
Always copy & paste error messages so typos don't screw up troubleshooting.

Do you get the same error message regardless of who the intended recipient
is? What happens when you send a message to yourself?

Re: Problems sending email

Yes the same thing, happens here is a copy and paste of the error message I
received when sending it to myself, not exactly the same as the origianl
message I received

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Wedding dresses', Account: 'mail.bigpond.com (1)',
Server: 'mail.bigpond.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error

Re: Problems sending email

"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Re: Problems sending email

You didn't answer my question, which antivirus are you running?
Please describe in detail what you have tried so far.

Re: Problems sending email

Trend Micro antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
First, go into its settings and disable any interaction with email, then try
Windows Mail again. If no improvement, do a trial uninstall of the antivirus.

Another option (instead of uninstalling Trend Micro) is to upgrade to
Windows Live Mail, which is more resistant to the adverse effects of
overly intrusive antivirus products: http://download.live.com/wlmail

If you ever had Norton or McAfee antivirus installed on that computer
(often included on a trial basis with new computers), you will need to
use the special removal utility for those programs.
