windows mail won't accept att password

my windows mail worked great this morning. tonight it tells me to log on and
verify my username and password. when i do, correctly (i've checked with
AT&T) i get this:

Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] invalid user/password', Port: 995, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

i've gone through with the AT&T help and they say my info is correct...any
help here?

Re: windows mail won't accept att password

If you are sure you are you are entering the correct username and
password, one possible cause for that error is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

Re: windows mail won't accept password

I am having the same issue WHY wont Windows mail accept my pass words . It
has been set up correctly. But I still have to go through TDS.net in order
to get my EMAil. Outlook express on the old computer will work correctly and
set up the email. Why wont Widows mail do the same if it suppposed to be a
better version of Outlook???????

Re: windows mail won't accept password

No one says that Windows Mail is a better version than Outlook Express.
It's just the replacement program.

If WM won't remember your email account password, you may try removing the
account, closing and re-starting WM, and re-adding the account.

Windows Mail has some shortcomings, as it apparently was rushed out the door
in order to meet the Vista release date, over 2 years ago. It has not and
will
not be updated, as it has been "replaced" with the newer Windows Live Mail.
