| | Error Trying to Import Email from OE to Microsoft Mail Hello. My old computer, which was running Windows XP and using Outlook Express crashed. Took it to a computer repair guy, who backed everything up for me. I bought a new computer, which of course came with Vista and Microsoft Mail. I am desperately trying to recover my email from the old computer, by trying to import the .dbx files from the back-up. But I keep getting the error message "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required folders open." Even though I see that the files are there. I've been looking everywhere for help (google, forums, microsoft support, etc), and the only advice any give, is to look at the 'properties' of the files, and make sure they are not read-only. They are not. But I still get the message. Any other advice? I was able to import my contacts fine. It's just the email I need. Thanks, Julie |

| | Re: Links generate "Application Not Found" error Give an example of a link, someone may be able to tell you what application you need to install. Are you sure these are genuine emails that really come from your friends? Clifford J. | | Re: Links generate "Application Not Found" error Assuming IE is your preferred browser, do the following: Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Internet Explorer". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Clifford J.
