Export/Import

Which format do I use for Contacts and which for Emails, for transfer via a
CD to another computer, also with Vista.

For Contacts, use the .CSV format. For your emails, don't see that you have
a choice other than where to store the backup; pick the Windows Mail option.
Store both Contacts and email in a new folder on the existing system; that
is, don't attempt to burn directly to a CD from within WinMail. Then burn
from the new folder.

Once you have the exports ready, copy the folders from the CD to a folder on
the hard drive of the target computer. Then use that folder for importing
into the target Windows Mail system. BTW, once copied from the CD to the
local HD, verify that the Read Only attribute isn't set on those files.

Note that with email you will likely need a DVD rather than a CD, especially
if you have a reasonably large email store.

Re: Export/Import

Thank you for the information. Maybe you could help me further. Please look
up in Vista General my posting titled Synchronization on the 4th instant.
Lots of replies, but nobody has given any useful information.

Re: Export/Import

Sorry, I don't have the time to read posts in the Vista General
newsgroup. I limit myself to email issues only.
