    Hey Blue,

Just a couple of questions to make sure I got it right.

    1. You're getting that error message when you open up Windows Mail?

    2. If the answer to question 1 is yes, after you click on the error message, can you get into Windows Mail at all or that's it?

    3. What happens if you go to the \Program Files\Windows Mail\ Folder itself and double-click on the WinMail.exe directly instead of the shortcut. Do you still get that message popping up for Vista64 forums?

    4. Have you tried doing a System Restore as far back as possible? Might be the easiest way to fix this if one of those cleaners screwed up the registry.

Let me know, I have a few other ideas.

    Edit:

Well gotta hit the hay now as it's almost 11:00PM EST. Catch up to you later.

    Hi HJ~

    Here are the answers .

    1) No when I open Windows Mail there is no Error message except when I'm linked back here to view a PM or thread subscription.

    2) I can get into Windows Mail no Problem.

    3) Same thing happens. Only get the Error Message when I click on links back to this site, as I mentioned.

    4) Yes, I'm thinking System Restore as well, but was kinda tring to get around that if at all possible.

I guess my Issue is a Lost cause HJ

Hmm, it all happened after I ran Malware remover, Complete System scan and did some fixing in my Registry, using CCleaner a Powerful Tool, I should have backed up my Registry first, but did not as I never have an issue, not doing it. Until now.

There Has to be an .exe file that triggers that Error, if I could locate it, I could change the exe extension, therefore it would not fire up, or Execute. Like .exa or something you know what I mean.

This Error have to come from a Folder someplace, where is it?? Hmmm (scratches head)

HJ, how do I set Windows Mail to Default settings?? I should know, I know....

    thanks a Bunch!!

    Jeff

I'm gonna Bite the Bullet and do a System Restore, I'll get back to you one way another HJ, ok.

I'll give you a Rep point if you give me one, LOL!! Deal??!!

in a BIG way, any other Ideas?? Maybe Illl ditch Widows Mail, though I've grown to really like it. But before I do that I'm try Re-setting it once I figure out how too, LOL.

I may just open a Gmail Account, as I'm so PI$$ED now!!

Is this the only site that gives you this error when you get a PM notification and can you click on other links within emails without a problem.

I haven't a clue who Shawn is, so no it doesn't make me feel better.

    Re: Help windows mail or...

Think I found it and it looks related to Firefox. I tried recreating your issue and I couldn't reproduce it. Here is an article describing how to possibly fix this and I would read the whole thing.

Windows error opening Internet shortcut or local HTML file - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

    Registry edit

You will need to manually edit the registry in Windows Vista or in cases where the File Types listing is missing certain entries such as "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" (HTTP) and "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" (HTTPS).

Caution: Editing the registry incorrectly can damage your system. Do not attempt these steps if you are inexperienced or uncomfortable using the Registry Editor.

Go to "Start -> Run" (or press the windows key+R) then type regedit and click OK

Use the directory tree hierarchy to navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\ddeexec"

    Delete the "ddeexec" registry key

Repeat for "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTPS\shell\open\ddeexec" (and any other protocols you want to fix)

    Repeat for "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec"

    Repeat for "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\ddeexec"

Very cool Alien pic and I'm glad I didn't use his Avatar here , because I have the same one which I haven't used for a while. Just once at the old abit site.

Odd that other links aren't doing this. If what I recommended todo doesn't work, you may want to try disabling you're Firefox add-ons that you're using and see what happens. Haven't a clue what you have loaded as far as Pop-Blockers or whatever.
