Cannot open a PDF, DOC, PPT, DWG, etc file directly windows mail

I could not open the attached files(PDF, DOC, PPT, DWG, etc...) in Window
Mail directly from the paper clip icon drop down menu.
However it can be opened after saving the attachement to other folders like
desktop.

The error message like this :
The path or file name of "C:\windows\system32\oooo.doc(or pdf, ppt, etc..) "
is incorrect. please check the path of file name

Sometime the path is "c:\program files\ahnlab\ooo.doc"

Because I'm using the MS Office(Korean version), the error message is
translated in english. (My poor english...^^)

I tried to search the solution. but I can't it anywhere. (Many people
suggest a docfix or to reassociate the application program.)

In my opinion, it is not concern with an application program(like word,
powerpoint, acrobat...). It's just the problem of windows mail. Maybe the
registry about windows mail seems to be changed.

Please help me.

Until such time as Microsoft releases a fix, all you can do is use one of
these three workarounds.

1) Uninstall IE8, which reverts you back to IE7.
2) Save attachments first, then open them outside of Windows Mail.
3) Upgrade to Windows Live Mail.

Did you just install IE8?

Did you disable your anti-virus application prior to installing IE8?

Yes. I just installed it without disable anti-virus.

Now. I had to (?) uninstalled IE8. I think IE8 is not stable as of today.
Some site doesn't work in IE8.

Re: Cannot open a PDF, DOC, PPT, DWG, etc file directly windows ma

No-charge support for Internet Explorer 8 installation, set-up and usage
(only) is available via the phone based on your locale through 31 December
2009. Customers must be running Windows XP or Windows Vista in a non-domain
environment.
=> US & CA Residents: 1-866-234-6020
=> Other locales: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...px?&prid=13043

My personal recommendations include:

=> Install IE8 manually, not via Windows Update/Automatic Updates!!

=> Uninstall all third-party toolbars (e.g., Google; Yahoo; Windows Live)
and third-party Windows Themes before installing IE8.

=> Close all open applications (i.e., anything with a taskbar icon) before
installing or uninstalling IE8.

=> I would strongly recommend disabling your anti-virus application and any
anti-spyware application's "system protections" (other than Defender's)
before installing (or uninstalling) an IE upgrade. If you're running a
third-party firewall, I would recommend disabling it and then enabling the
Windows Firewall before installing (or uninstalling) an IE upgrade.

=> Create a Restore Point manually before installing IE8.

=> Reboot twice after installing or uninstalling IE8.

=> For best chance of success with IE8, make certain that your anti-virus
application, any anti-spyware applications (other than Defender), and your
third-party firewall (if any) are supported in IE8 Final before you decide
install it.
